This is a nice shot as is, but there are two things I'd experiment with: How does this look with a more colorful top? And I'd bump up the shutter speed to avoid the motion blur especially on her left arm.

Once again we are going to be the voice of dissent

No LIKEY at all, for me this picture anyone could have taken, lighting bad, pose and direction of model just okay but most annoyingly the model's look just looks bored/dead. Now it is the job of the photographer to take whatever is put in front of him and capture an image that sells. You may need to take 1000 images just to get 1 or 2 amazing & stonking images, but thats all one needs, one or 2 images. You have now posted 2 images in the last 2 days that frankly are way below par.

Now is this your fault or is it the model's?

Be consistent with the work you invite the world to see, you take this photography lot more serious than your average Joe hence the long comments from us

One does not have to always show images from every shoot, there are shoots we have done that will never see the light of day? WHY? As far as we are concerned, if the images do not meet the muster,we do not share, we just reshoot (if we can) and learn from mistakes made.

Patrick Krolis: I would hope you do this more often. After all this is the reason I started blogging on Shutterchance a bit more than a year ago. This is why my ShMood is RED.

Yes, I know the two examples you have mentioned are in a different class, I am very aware of this, yet this is the only forum where I can get this kind of criticism, I do agree with you that you should only show your very best work and some shoots should be kept private. Yet I have gone through phases over the last 3 years, and every phase starts with experimentation and hopefully ends with excellence.

I'll show a few more from this shoot, as I tried to achieve something beyond my comfortzone in that shoot, and I want to know where the I went in the right direction and where I went in the wrong direction.

Of course there is material that would receive the normal oohs and aahs, (ahum

) but to me the challenge is to develop and for that sometimes you have to share your experiments too, and accept the truth gracefully.

i am all about experimenting and having fun while taking pictures. It is obvious that you love taking pics. So what if people don't like the lighting or the pose, or whatever! At the end of the the day what matters is that you took an awesome image that you are proud of. There you have it.

Patrick Krolis: thanks Rags, sometimes you experiment, and then you know you ahvce a winner, or you kow that you can improve, but what is most important for me is feedback, because without it, I would live in a world of my own, and probably I would not be happy with any of my work in the sense that I always would be thinking I could do better. Now I know that some of it is rock solid in the eyes of others, I accept that some of it will not be, it certainly doesn't take the joy of photogrpahing and experimenting away.

Hi Darling!
I love that you are so passionate about photography and that you take constructive criticism to heart. I know working with models in Suriname can be a bit frustrating too. So that means you have to be extra creative or at least have a stylist at the shoots that has the same vision as you. I agree with Suby & Sinem and I believe you can do much better. Just keep practicing and don't be afraid to think out of the box.

Though there is some truth in what Suby is saying, I agree that you should be able to experiment with new things on your blog. For me that is what my blog is about. Getting feedback and improving. THough this image is not your most stunning, I suggest that you continue to try new things. You have done some amazing things in the past and no doubt alto more are coming.
