Model Credit: mimi and v_oehlers from www.bodynsoulmodels.com

It was a wonderful way of spending the last dawn before my birthday this year. On a beautiful saturday afternoon, not sure whether it would rain or shine, we all jumped into the car and took off to Nieuw Amsterdam, where the Suriname River and the Commewijne River join before flowing into the sea. Historiccally this has been one of the principal points of defense back in the days when Suriname was a colony and French, English and Dutch would fight for the riches of the land.

More and more I desire to shoot outdoors, I guess that is a natural progression of one's creative desires, I think I got a beautiful sky as a backdrop to my two beautiful models, Kimberly and Valerie. While Fausto was working the reflectors, and Naomi guiding the poses, my 7 year old son Kyle was taking snapshots and "polaroids", I had to work quickly to catch the last rays of light.

It really made my day, if only I could think of a tilte for the shot...suggestions are welcome :)

Martin from United States 27 Nov 2007, 00:20
This looks like something from an old film. I like the old-fashioned look combined with the intrepid explorer look of these women (the fancy dresses notwithstanding).
Patrick Krolis: you've nailed it again Martin, you've nailed it again, thank you very very much...

pixelpixie from Great Britain (UK) 27 Nov 2007, 01:04
Love the composition Patrick and particularly the pose of the seated model. Great strength. Would make a fabulous shot if it was just her sat on that old canon. I like it.
Patrick Krolis: Thank you very very much, I have been longing to shoot with Kim for a long time, you will definitly see more of her as we have some more ideas to explore together...

Kimberley 27 Nov 2007, 01:14
We should do this again soon sweetie!!! it was a lot of fun
Patrick Krolis: Thank you so much for joining us Kim, you know how long we've longed to do this, loking forward to the next shoot, let's rock!!!

valerie 27 Nov 2007, 01:16
the black and white does create a certain mood..
I do agree that it would have been better with just kim smile
Patrick Krolis: it would not have been the same without you...thank you so much for being part of my journey

Shanna 27 Nov 2007, 01:20
Deze foto is zo hot, ma dan tegelijk ook romantisch!!! The pose and leg that's showing makes it hot en de omgeving, background makes it romantic!!!
Very Nice!!!
Patrick Krolis: tell it to the world Shanna, tell it to the world, thank you very very much for the compliments

Jareth 27 Nov 2007, 01:26
Great picture Patrick! The girls are posing so well! Both girls are very beautiful, but I love the girl on the left. Is there any possibility I can make her my model?

Good luck with further photo sessions!
Patrick Krolis: No comment on making any of my models your own, that is definitely totally up to her, but thank you very much for your comment and yes more shoots are coming, very exited about that :d

Sesan Olusoga from UK 27 Nov 2007, 01:46
Very nice, very well done. The poses, the chosen location, and evrything else. Nicely done.
Patrick Krolis: Thank you very very much for your kind words, listening to Amy Whinehouse' "You Know I Am No Good" on the background while I write this seems like a funny twist of faith here

Maurice 27 Nov 2007, 02:14

Ginnie from United States 27 Nov 2007, 12:47
I'm not sure anyone wants to hear this from me, but since no one else has said it (just thought it, I'm quite sure!), this is one of the most erotic photos I have ever seen on SC! And that's all I'll say about that (other than to say it shows to go ya that you don't ever need to go nude to elicit it)! smile
Patrick Krolis: Ginnie, you don't know ho much this mean for me, I am forever grateful on your comment!!! I cannot express my feeling at this moment, you truly stirred my emotions here!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you, I'll have t post one more of this series now that i read your comment, you will know and understand when I post it...Thank you again wish i could hug you right now.

Rafael Chan from Paramaribo 27 Nov 2007, 13:51
smile smile
Great Composition!!
Pat, you continue to amaze us with you're quest for excellence..

The foreground with the grass, the bricks, the models and the canon combine well with the natural scenery of the background.
Not to mention the effect of the light. It adds that finishing touch to this (already) beautiful photograph.

Someone whispered in my ear that these two models are a dream for every photographer to work with. I’ve heard that they communicate well with the photographer and have a very creative input. Two thumbs up for the lovely Val and Kim smile

You're not only lucky to have such excellent models Patrick ....
I also keep noticing the progress in the quality of your work grows in a consistent manner!!!

Thank you again for sharing the passion of ‘Body and Soul’ with us wink

Patrick Krolis: I humbly bow to your compliments Master Chan...I'll take the honors for the models too, they are wonderful indeed...

Patrick Krolis: Thank you very much for the compliment, I am sure the models have read your comment too and are smiling smile

Shereen Jaeger 27 Nov 2007, 18:51
Gorgeous!! The colors are perfect and ofcourse the models pretty as alwayssmile The picture oozes a certain relaxing atmosphere yet the first thing that comes to mind when looking at it is 'erotic'! Truly intense!
Patrick Krolis: It is "In the Eye of the Beholder" yet there seems to be some hidden erotic or sensual coding in this photograph, you seem to be able to pick that up, the models are truly gorgeos indeed and the sky is a dream (literally) come true, Thank you very much for your compliment Shereen.

blackdog from Bath on dial up! 27 Nov 2007, 19:30
This is a great shot Patrick. Quality work my friend. You have lots of comments already, but I must mention the composition. Brave to go for the landscape format AND to place two models at the edge, it works perfectly for me.
Patrick Krolis: Part of the landscape format came from how this photograph came about. Never before I executed a photograph with such a defined vision in my head, the vision started developing a few months ago, and the first thing that I knew how I would like it was the sky. So it was only normal to give the sky the most prominent space in the composition smile

Ellie from here on my chair 27 Nov 2007, 22:33
Powerful picture Patrick, really powerful ... and ditto Mike's comment above. It makes me think of something out of Hardy or the Brontes, intense, romantic and so on.
Patrick Krolis: Thank you very much Ellie, the photograph started with a vision in my mind that at first only had the sky, as time went by and the hoot came nearer, it developed to this smile

Jos Angel from Spain 27 Nov 2007, 22:48
Yo pienso Patrick que has hecho un trabajo muy bueno. En un primer momento pensé que las figuras de las chicas estaban puestas encima del paisaje, pero veo que es obra de la iluminación!

I think Patrick that you have made a work very good. About a first moment I thought that the figures of the girls were put upon the landscape, but see that it is work of the illumination!
Patrick Krolis: como siempre la iluminacion es central smile gracia por tu commentario amigo!!

AMAZING. There are so many things that make this photo sweet, I'm definite that you are a smashing photographer, however I hope I'm not flogging a dead horse when I say, WHERE DO YOU GET THESE CHICS FROM?.
Your archive file is like SPORTS ILLUSTRATED TOP TEN.
PS, If ever I'm in your ghetto I'll bring the drinks, you bring the chics.

I will just lift a small tip of the shrine...The girls started a group on Facebook named "Surinamese Girls Are Hotter!!!" wink Thank you very much for the complments wink maybe I should get one of these SPORTS ILLUSTRATED editors on the phone!! :d
