photoblog image Bathing in Gold

Patick,

Your experience in analog photography and the dark room shows in your exquisite digital photos. I am pretty much a novice at digital photography, of any photography for that matter. I am interested in the way you use and capture lighting, such as in this photo "Bathed in Gold". You obviously have skills and knowledge most of us can only aspire to. Can you tell me if you use any external light sources, filters, or what kind of post processing you use to capture such rich pictures? Any help in that area would be appreciated. At this time I use only natural lighting and then depend on minimal post processing (I use the software that came with my Canon Rebel).

Great pictures and thanks for sharing. I'll check out your other sites also.
Patrick Krolis: Hey Brian, Thanks for your comment and for your compliments. I myself have a lot to learn and a lot to improve. The way I learn is mostly from trying trying trying and learning from people that do better smile So I am glad to share what I learn with you and the whole shutterchance community. This picture is actually very simple in set-up. I have used a Novatron M500 flashhead right behind the model and I used the light trough the umbrella aimed directly at the model. If you notice the highlights and the shadows you can pretty much imagine where the lightsource was standing. After that I incresed the contrast a bit and applied a golden hue over the image using Photoshop.

Patrick Krolis: You missed this one ?? smile LOL thanks for the compliment, When I started out with my nudes I really loved this picture, now I am really thinking of re-postprocessing this version into something different, do you get that itch too sometimes looking at old time favorites?

Excellent shot! Please re-post-process! The model is absolutely great to look at. the lighting has been done wonderfully to expose the beauty that might have otherwise been missed. I would love to produce an image of this quality.

Patrick Krolis: I would definitely re-process, but then again this work is getting soo old, how would you like to see it, I am very curious as to your insight...
